For some Benbrook residents, concerns about Trinity Estates Phase III are not going away.
Following a recent City floodplain workshop, longtime resident Greg Clem and several neighbors say they left with more questions than answers regarding the development’s approval process, floodplain requirements, and emergency access during major flood events.
Clem, who has been vocal about the project for more than a year, argues that information shared during the workshop raised concerns about whether city requirements regarding safe ingress and egress were fully addressed before the development moved forward.
In emails sent to City Council members, he cited city code language regarding floodplain development permits and vehicle access during flood conditions.
Among the issues raised were questions about how the project was approved, whether decision-making authority rested with city staff or elected bodies, and whether residents and advisory boards were provided complete information during the review process.
Clem also called for a comprehensive review of the Trinity Estates Phase III approval process, citing concerns about floodplain impacts, public safety, and transparency. Several residents echoed those concerns online, expressing frustration over communication from city officials and requesting greater public accountability.
The City of Benbrook has not publicly responded to the latest concerns outlined in the emails.
As the discussion continues, residents on both sides of the issue appear united on wanting transparent answers about decisions that could affect the safety and future of their neighborhood now and in the future.
