Some weeks at the Benbrook Par 3 Golf Course are steady. This was not one of them.
In just a few days, three different players stepped up and did what most golfers spend years chasing: a hole-in-one.
It started during a midweek scramble, when Isaac aced hole number 8, earning a spot in the course’s long-standing “1995 book,” a local tradition that tracks the rare feat.
Not long before that, Mike did the same on hole 8 during the previous week’s scramble, with his witness Chris there to capture the moment as he pulled the ball from the cup.
Then came a shot that turned even more heads. Colton Metsgar, a sixth grader at St. Paul, knocked in a hole-in-one on hole number 2 using a 6 iron, a hole known by regulars as one of the toughest on the course.
Colton was out practicing with coach Concetta ahead of the upcoming Second Annual Golden Putter Challenge, a short game-focused tournament that now carries a little extra buzz.
For a local course, it was the kind of week that brings people back out, not just to play, but to be part of the stories that unfold between swings.
