A familiar Benbrook story unfolded this week as Western Hills educator Patty Pressley celebrated a milestone from one of her former students.
Jason, a Western Hills High School graduate from four years ago, walked across another finish line, this time earning his HVAC trade certificate.
His journey has taken a few turns. He spent a strong first year at Midwestern State University but realized the cost of continuing down that path would create more debt than opportunity. Rather than push forward in something that no longer fit, he made a practical move this fall and enrolled in HVAC training. Today, he completed the program and stepped into a career field hungry for skilled workers.
Pressley credits a village of coaches, teachers, and volunteers who guided and encouraged him along the way. The pride is shared by everyone who watched him grow from a high school kid to a young adult making thoughtful choices for his future.
It is the kind of story that reminds our community that success does not come in one shape. Sometimes it looks like a certificate earned through hard work, a new trade that promises stability, and a young man confident in the path he chose.
