Benbrook residents keeping an eye on local development will want to note this week’s Planning and Zoning Commission agenda.
The commission meets Thursday, December 11, at City Hall, with a work session at 7:00 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. A quorum of the City Council may also be present.
The key item up for public hearing is a request to rezone roughly 80 acres along the east side of Loop 820, between Veterans Parkway and Chapin Road. The proposal, filed as case PZ-2026-01, would shift part of the land to a Multiple-Family Planned Development District and transition the remaining acreage to a One-Family District. The site sits at 4501 W Loop 820 S and falls within the Thomas G. Zachary Survey.
Commissioners will review the staff report, hear public comments, and consider final action on the request. Minutes from the November meeting are also slated for approval, and staff will share updates on administratively reviewed projects and the monthly community development report.
Meetings are held at 911 Winscott Road and are open to the public. Anyone needing accommodations or interpretive services is encouraged to call 817-249-3000 at least 48 hours ahead.
