Western Hills is heading into Thanksgiving week with its heart on full display.
The Cougar Football Team has kicked off its annual Toys for Tots drive, asking the community to donate new, unwrapped toys, books, or board games valued at ten dollars or more. Items can be dropped off at Western Hills, and the team is even offering to pick up donations before December 4 for anyone who needs it.
The spirit of service continued on campus as students stepped up to support their own. Cougar JROTC members spent the week preparing food bags for Western Hills families and the broader Western Hills Pyramid, under the guidance of a 2025 alumnus who returned to help. Earlier in the week, senior football players packed bags for Luella Merrett Elementary as part of the effort to fight food insecurity.
As students head into the holiday break, Fort Worth ISD is keeping meals accessible for families across the city. From November 24 to 26, children under 18 can receive free meals at select FWISD schools, regardless of enrollment status. Meals must be eaten on-site and are available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Alice Contreras, C.C. Moss, Briscoe, Manuel Jara, Clifford Davis, Diamond Hill, Maude I. Logan, and Western Hills Elementary.
Residents can follow ongoing updates and volunteer opportunities through the Cougar Pride Alliance Facebook group.
