Benbrook Lions Club Hosts Community Food Drive at Walmart.

The Benbrook Lions Club, a service organization that has been part of the city since 1953, is spending today focused on a simple goal: helping neighbors who are struggling to keep food on the table.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., members will be stationed outside the grocery entrance at the Benbrook Walmart collecting donations for WestAid Food Pantry.

This time of year brings some of the highest demand for food support, and WestAid relies heavily on community drives like this one. Volunteers will hand out flyers listing the pantry’s most needed items, making it easy for shoppers to pick up a few extras during their regular trip. Donations will be gathered on the way out and delivered directly to WestAid at 2800 Cherry Lane in the shopping center behind Westside Cafe and Firestone.

For residents who have ever wondered what the Lions Club does or how to get involved, today offers a chance to meet members face to face. Volunteers in yellow vests are happy to answer questions or share how the club serves Benbrook year round. Their annual chili supper fundraiser is also on the horizon, with more details available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyWteR7n5M4.

It is a simple effort with an immediate impact. A few extra items in a cart becomes a stocked shelf at the pantry and a little relief for families who need it most.
