Benbrook Parents Push to Bring Back Old-School Trick-or-Treating.

This Halloween, a group of Benbrook parents is rallying neighbors to keep the tradition of local trick-or-treating alive. Instead of families scattering to big city events across Fort Worth, they are encouraging residents to make Benbrook’s streets the go-to destination for costumed fun.

The plan is simple: turn on porch lights at dusk, stock up on candy, and consider setting up at the end of your driveway for easier, friendlier exchanges. For those not home, leaving a bowl of candy out is suggested. Families are also encouraged to post their addresses on the 2025 Treat Map through Nextdoor and discuss with neighbors how to create excitement on their street.

Organizers say whether you go big with decorations or keep it simple, the key is participation. The goal is to provide kids with a safe and lively Halloween experience without leaving town, while also helping neighbors connect in the process.

Benbrook’s Halloween night of trick-or-treating officially begins at dusk on Friday, October 31.
