A recent wave of online chatter has left some residents worried that Benbrook no longer has an animal shelter after the Humane Society’s adoption center on Highway 377 closed.
But the facts tell a different story: Benbrook’s city-run shelter on Winscott Road is alive, well, and actively serving the community.
Built in 2018, the Benbrook Animal Shelter is a modern facility supported by the City of Benbrook and powered by the dedication of the nonprofit Benbrook 4PAWS. The shelter is renowned for its cleanliness, high adoption rates, and compassionate staff, led by Manager Jennifer Sharp.
Volunteers are always welcome; however, safety guidelines do not permit children to assist directly with animals.
The site on Highway 377 that closed was a Humane Society of North Texas adoption center, not the city shelter. That facility struggled with visibility, limited adoptions, and a lack of donations. The closure sparked confusion, but residents can rest assured that Benbrook’s main shelter remains open and committed to caring for homeless pets.
For anyone looking to help, Benbrook 4PAWS continues to seek volunteers and donations to ensure every animal finds a forever home. You can learn more about their mission and how to get involved at Benbrook 4PAWS.
