BENBROOK, TX – Tragedy struck south of Benbrook on Monday evening when a head-on crash on Highway 1187 in the Whiskey Flats area left three people dead and two others fighting for their lives.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were dispatched around 8:20 p.m. on September 1 to the 8700 block of Highway 1187, where they found four vehicles mangled and several people critically injured. Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The Sheriff’s Traffic Investigations Unit is now working to determine what caused the deadly collision. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identities of the victims and confirm their causes of death in the coming days.
Highway 1187 was shut down for hours as first responders worked the scene, a stark reminder of the dangers on one of the area’s busiest roadways.
