BENBROOK, Texas — Tragedy struck Monday evening at the Benbrook YMCA as 61-year-old Gordon Wray Maberry, of Willow Park, Texas, was found unresponsive and pronounced dead after drowning in the facility’s pool.
Emergency crews from Benbrook Fire Department arrived at the scene around 4:30 PM and immediately began life-saving efforts, including CPR.
The man was transported to Harris Southwest Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 5 PM, according to an update from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday. The cause of death has been ruled an accident.
