TARRANT COUNTY, Texas — The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) is alerting residents to a rise in scam calls this holiday season.
Posing as sheriff’s deputies, scammers threaten victims with arrest or claim they’ve missed a court appearance, pressuring them to pay fines using gift cards, Green Dot cards, or apps like Zelle or CashApp.
If you receive a suspicious call, do not send money and verify its legitimacy by contacting the sheriff’s office.
For tips on avoiding scams, visit the sheriff’s office website or read more on WFAA’s report.
