For many students, summer camp is a chance to have fun. At this year’s GT Camp (Gifted & Talented Camp), it was also a chance to stretch their creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.
According to administrator and educator Erin Flusche, this year’s camp was the largest yet, welcoming 300 students for a week filled with hands-on projects designed to challenge the way they think and learn.
Leading the effort was Michael Flusche, her husband, who helped create a mystery-themed experience that turned learning into an adventure. Students followed clues left by a mysterious monster who wanted help learning how to be creative. Along the way, campers tackled activities across a variety of interests while developing critical thinking skills and exploring new ideas.
The theme even extended to the camp’s “Choose Your Own Adventure” inspired shirts, adding another layer of fun to the week.
Behind the scenes, Flusche spent the week supporting students, teachers, and families, culminating in a presentation to more than 300 parents.
The camp’s growth reflects what many educators already know: when learning feels like an adventure, students are eager to jump in and see where it leads.
