Western Hills Students Taking Teacher Appreciation Beyond the Classroom.

Students at Western Hills High School are being encouraged to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week through simple acts that can make a lasting difference.

The campus launched a weeklong “Teacher Appreciation Week Challenge,” giving students daily ways to recognize teachers who invest in them throughout the school year.

Monday’s focus encourages students to write thank-you notes or emails to teachers who helped them this year. Tuesday shifts toward verbal encouragement, asking students to personally thank teachers and specifically mention how they have made an impact.

By Wednesday, the challenge turns practical, encouraging students to show appreciation through effort in the classroom by staying focused, participating, and keeping phones put away during class.

Thursday highlights thoughtful actions like helping clean up, holding doors, or stepping in without being asked, while Friday invites students to bring a small treat or piece of candy to a favorite teacher as a final thank-you before the week wraps up.

School leaders described the challenge as a reminder that appreciation does not always require grand gestures. Sometimes the smallest moments of respect, effort, and gratitude are the ones teachers remember most.
