Despite a cold and windy Saturday morning, a strong group of Benbrook residents turned out to support a meaningful cause at Benbrook Cemetery.
Led by Benbrook resident Kelly Wright Sears, volunteers of all ages gathered to pick up and deconstruct wreaths from this year’s Wreaths Across America tribute.
The cleanup began at the cemetery and wrapped up quickly once the wreaths were taken to VFW Post 10429. Thanks to the large turnout, the deconstruction was completed in about an hour, a clear sign of how much community support stands behind the mission.
Wreaths Across America is a year-round effort to remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and teach the next generation the value of freedom. Sears expressed deep gratitude to everyone who showed up and helped make the effort successful.
“It is a personal mission of mine that I am proud to have brought the national program to Benbrook,” Sears shared. “Every speech I’ve given ends with, ‘We shall not forget.’”
Sears also emphasized that the event’s success belonged to the entire community, from sponsors and volunteers to those who attended the ceremony and helped spread the word.
Residents interested in participating in future events can follow Benbrook Cemetery Wreaths Across America on Facebook or learn more about the national mission. Those who would like to sponsor a wreath can visit https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX1453P.
With another meaningful year complete, organizers are already encouraging residents to help share the mission early and keep the momentum going for Wreaths Across America 2026.
