If you happened to look up last week and noticed a new kind of roar in the Texas sky, you were not imagining it.
Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth recently welcomed VMFA 224, the Bengals, as they arrived with their distinctive tiger-striped F-35 B aircraft. The arrival was hard to miss.
From a clean taxi with the Fort Worth skyline in the background to a gear-down overhead pass that showed off the aircraftโs short takeoff and vertical landing capability, the Bengals made their entrance known.
The F 35B stands out even among modern fighter jets. The tiger striping across the fuselage and tail, the WK tail code, and the Marines script along the boom give the aircraft a bold look under the Texas sun.
For residents near the base, the new stripes in the sky are more than a visual change. They are a reminder that Benbrook and Fort Worth remain closely connected to the men and women who train and serve here every day.
