If you live in South Benbrook, you may soon see crews and equipment rolling through your neighborhood.
The City of Benbrook will begin asphalt street overlay work on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The project is expected to take up to 45 calendar days, weather permitting.
Over time, daily traffic and changing weather wear down asphalt. Rather than fully rebuilding a road, the city uses an overlay process to extend its life. Crews mill off about two inches of old asphalt, lay down a new surface, and compact it with heavy rollers to create a smooth finish. For most individual streets, the work is typically completed in a single day.
Streets are selected based on pavement condition, age, traffic volume, and classification. Residents will receive door hangers in advance with details specific to their street before work begins.

It may mean a brief inconvenience, but the result is something every driver appreciates. A smoother ride through the neighborhoods we call home.
