South Benbrook Residents Push Back on Floodplain Development.

Benbrook neighbors are turning concern into a movement.

Longtime residents Greg and Donna Clem say the next step in the fight against floodplain development is visibility. Signs, bumper stickers, and even a website are in the works this week to rally more community support.

The message is clear: no more approvals for building in floodplains. Residents argue that the risk is too high, pointing to recent storms that left parts of Texas underwater. One heavy rain can bring catastrophic loss, and while no one can predict when the next storm will hit, they believe prevention begins with protecting floodplains from development.

Neighbors are calling on the city to enforce its own ordinances without exception and to put public safety before new construction. They stress that this is not just about one neighborhood, but about safeguarding all of Benbrook.

The movement is growing, and organizers urge residents to spread the word, join the mission, and continue to press city leaders.
