Robot Park Reprieve Takes Center Stage at Jan. 5 City Council Meeting.

Benbrook residents will have a meaningful chance to weigh in this week as the City Council meets on Thursday, January 5, at 7 pm at City Hall, 911 Winscott Road.

While the regular meeting follows the standard order of business, the real focus comes during the work session, where several items with long-term impact will be discussed.

At the top of that list is the future of the beloved Robot playground. After many residents learned the city planned to demolish and scrap the original Robot Park and Castle Park in favor of newer designs, community concern grew quickly.

In response, the city paused those plans and is now presenting multiple robot playground structure options. This work session gives residents a voice in shaping what comes next and in honoring the spirit of the original parks moving forward.

Also on the work session agenda are updates to the cityโ€™s Floodplain and Stormwater Management Program and a discussion of aligning board and commission member terms with the fiscal year rather than the calendar year.

Before the work session begins, residents are encouraged to attend the regular meeting and take advantage of citizen comment periods. Formal citizen comments allow speakers up to three minutes on any agenda item, offering another opportunity to be heard on issues that matter to the community.

For neighbors who care deeply about Benbrookโ€™s parks, infrastructure, and future planning, Thursday nightโ€™s meeting is one worth showing up for.
