Path to the Ballot: From Flood Concerns to Citywide Leadership.

When neighbors in Benbrook first asked Sean Moore why he chose to run for City Council, Place 5, his answer began with something close to home: flooding.

Moore says his only goal at first was to protect his neighborhood from water damage, but that fight against the Save Mary’s Creek project turned into something larger.

As Moore organized neighbors and built momentum, he found himself fielding concerns on issues far beyond drainage. Time after time, residents told him they felt ignored by city leadership. That realization, he says, is what pushed him to step into the race.

Since then, Moore has met with city officials, spoken with residents across Benbrook, and watched what he calls “sleeping giants” of civic involvement awaken. He believes that the growing attention from citizens and local media alike demonstrates that the community is ready for change.

Moore frames his candidacy as an extension of that grassroots energy, promising to be an “inside man” for everyday residents who want their voices heard. He has also endorsed fellow candidates Ryan Reagan and Derrick Varnell, citing their shared history of community advocacy.
