Mosquito Spraying Scheduled for August 14th to 15th in Benbrook.

BENBROOK, Texas — The City of Benbrook will undertake a targeted mosquito spraying operation within a half-mile radius of the 8400 block of Arroyo Lane, following the detection of West Nile Virus in one of the area’s mosquito traps.

Weather permitting, the spraying is scheduled to begin at approximately 11:00 PM on Wednesday, August 14, and conclude by 6:00 AM on Thursday, August 15.

Spraying Zone Details

The designated spray area is generally bounded by Team Ranch Road to the north, the I-20 service road to the south, Loop 820 to the west, and Benbrook Boulevard to the east. The City emphasizes that spraying will not extend beyond the city limits, ensuring a focused approach to mosquito control.

Health and Safety Measures

The mosquito control pesticide used in this operation is safe for people and pets; however, as with any pesticide, residents are encouraged to minimize exposure. This spraying initiative is a proactive measure following confirmation by Tarrant County Public Health of a mosquito testing positive for West Nile Virus in the area.

Protecting Your Home and Family

In addition to the City’s efforts, residents are reminded to take personal precautions to protect against mosquito bites and reduce the risk of West Nile Virus. Key recommendations include:

  • Eliminate Standing Water: Regularly dump out standing water on your property to reduce mosquito breeding sites.
  • Use Repellent: Apply mosquito repellent, especially if you spend time outdoors during peak mosquito activity hours, typically from dusk to dawn.
  • Dress Appropriately: Wear long sleeves and pants when outside during evening and early morning hours to minimize skin exposure.
