Love in Action: Stones Throw Farms Hosts Valentine’s Party.

Local farm-to-market nonprofit Stones Throw Farms will be hosting a Valentine’s party from 2 to 4 pm with cupcake decorating, a hot chocolate bar, and fellowship.

Stones Throw Farms became a not-for-profit farm in 2020, employing individuals with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities as interns to assist in the day-to-day operations of the business.

“Our mission is to provide work opportunities for people with special needs or disabilities. To create a place for both of them to contribute and belong, possibly earn an income as they grow into young men, and possibly beyond”, says founder Trish Stone.

Trish and Jack Stone founded the nonprofit with a personal perspective on its development and its impact on people with disabilities. Trish explains, “We have an autistic son, and another with Cystic Fibrosis and Type 1 Diabetes”.

Trish and Jack are members of the Benbrook Chamber of Commerce and attend set-up at the Benbrook Artisans Market on 1st Sundays and at the Fort Worth Community Market on 2nd Sundays.

Personally, having been an intern at Stones Throw Farms as a person with disabilities, I can attest to the hands-on encouragement and support given to the needs of those involved with the work in the community and in the store. My time at Stones Throw, spent as an intern, developed interpersonal skills in customer service and interaction, and strengthened my professionalism.

While currently searching for employment, the experience I gained at Stones Throw has given me the encouragement and determination to pursue further recovery.

Stones Throw Farms just celebrated its fourth year and has been in the farm stand business for ten. In 2024, Stones Throw received a grant from The Ramesh and Kalpana Bhatia Family Foundation through North Texas Giving Day, Walmart in 2025, Foodie Philanthropy, in 2025, Junior League Fort Worth 2026, and Fort Worth Rotary Club in 2026.

Stones Throw as Trish states, “ Every month, we host some type of social event, all are welcome! We also have canning classes monthly, Kolache Saturdays, a gardening class or two coming this spring”.

Stones Throw Farms is a part of the Benbrook community and its citizens. Keep up with Stones Throw Farms at www.stonesthrowfarmco.org.
