Hulen Mall Reopens After Friday Night Fire Scare.

Just days after a two-alarm fire disrupted a busy Friday night, Hulen Mall in Fort Worth is back open and welcoming shoppers.

The fire broke out on the mall’s roof around 7:15 p.m. Friday, prompting a full evacuation and drawing a large response from Fort Worth firefighters. Smoke filled the second floor, but crews had the blaze under control within 45 minutes. Despite early 911 calls mentioning explosions and a roof collapse, officials confirmed that only skylight panels fell, not the roof.

One person was injured and taken to the hospital, though their current condition hasn’t been released.

The fire department stayed on site after the flames were extinguished to ventilate the space using a truck-mounted industrial fan, designed for clearing smoke from large buildings, such as malls.

Investigators say roofing work had taken place earlier that day, but the cause of the fire is still under review.
