As the new school year begins, Fort Worth ISD has updated its dress code guidelines for students in grades 9 through 12, providing families across Benbrook with a clear understanding of what’s allowed and what’s not.
Students now have more flexibility in colors and styles. Tops can be any color, whether it’s a classic polo, an Oxford shirt, a turtleneck, or even a simple T-shirt. Bottoms include pants, capris, shorts, skirts, skorts, and jumpers. All must meet fingertip-length requirements, and pants should stay securely at the waist.
Outerwear, such as sweatshirts, sweaters, coats, and jackets, is permitted in any color and should match the weather. Belts are optional but must be solid-colored fabric or leather.

Across all grades, wearing sagging pants remains a no-go, along with other specific violations not listed here. For full details and updates, families can visit fwisd.org. A little wardrobe planning now will help students head into the school year ready to focus, not fuss.
