Fort Worth Zoo to Host Third Annual Deaf Day This September.

The Fort Worth Zoo is once again opening its gates to celebrate accessibility with its third annual Deaf Day on Saturday, September 20.

The event, created in partnership with Tarrant County College’s Sign Language Interpreting Program, is designed for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community to enjoy the Zoo without barriers.

Throughout the day, American Sign Language interpreters will be available at animal talks, exhibits, restaurants, and even gift shops. Families can participate in experiences like giraffe feeding and zookeeper Q&A sessions, with full access to information and interaction.

The event is not only about inclusion for visitors but also about providing hands-on opportunities for TCC students preparing for careers in interpretation. For many families, Deaf Day has become a fall tradition that combines education, conservation, and community in one memorable experience.
