The Cresson community is mourning the loss of a devoted public servant.
David Hendrix, Firefighter No. 38 with the Cresson Volunteer Fire Department, passed away just after midnight on Thursday, January 15, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
His illness was presumptively linked to his years of firefighting service, a reminder of the risks first responders willingly carry in order to protect others.
Those who served alongside David describe a firefighter whose presence mattered deeply, both on calls and within the station. He was missed during his fight for health, and his absence is felt even more now.
His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the service he gave, and the example he set for his fellow firefighters and the community he faithfully served.
