Anyone wondering about the ringing sound echoing across Benbrook on Tuesday night did not have to look far. It was the energy from a heated crosstown boys soccer matchup between the Western Hills Cougars and the Benbrook Bobcats.

Western Hills set the tone early and controlled the night, earning shutout wins at both levels.

The Cougars junior varsity took a 4-0 victory, followed by a 2-0 varsity win that never allowed Benbrook to find its rhythm.

While the Bobcats created several strong chances, they were unable to convert, and the Cougars capitalized on their momentum from start to finish.

The sweep improved Western Hills to 5 -6 overall and 2-1 in district play, keeping them firmly in the district race. Benbrook now sits at 6 and 8 on the season and 1 and 2 in district action.

The Bobcats will look to bounce back quickly as they return home Friday night to host the Eastern Hills Highlanders in a district matchup scheduled for 7 pm.
