At Western Hills High School, meal counts are more than just numbers. They tell a story of commitment, community, and Cougar pride.
Thanks to the steady hands and generous hearts behind the Cougar Pride Alliance, WHHS has served tens of thousands of meals to students over the past eight school years—and they’re not slowing down anytime soon.
Each year, volunteers step up to prep, cook, grill, and serve everything from sandwiches to hot meals. Donations, both financial and in-kind, help fuel the mission. As the program enters its ninth year, the numbers reflect more than just food. They show what happens when a community rallies behind its children.
Here’s how it’s all stacked up year by year:
Meal Totals by School Year
2017–18
- Meals served: 7,000+
- Note: Program launched October 27
2018–19
- Meals served: 11,072
2019–20

- Note: School year cut short by COVID; ended March 13

2024–25 (projected)

The effort is powered by people who believe no student should ever have to learn on an empty stomach. Whether you’ve flipped burgers, packed lunch sacks, or chipped in a few bucks to keep the pantry stocked, it’s clear—Cougar pride runs deep.
And as they enter year nine, that pride is growing stronger, one meal at a time.
