That drawer full of old cords, the outdated printer in the corner, the stack of papers you keep meaning to sort through, Benbrook residents will soon have a simple way to take care of it all in one stop.
On Saturday, May 16, the City of Benbrook is hosting a free E-Waste and Shred Event at Dutch Branch Park from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., or until trucks reach capacity. The event will take place in the back parking lot of the Benbrook Community Center YMCA, 1899 Winscott Road. A driver’s license or utility bill is required to confirm residency.
The goal is straightforward. Help residents safely dispose of electronics and securely shred personal documents without the hassle or cost.
Accepted electronics include televisions, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, kitchen appliances, gaming systems, and more. Hard drives from collected electronics will be destroyed. Items like vacuum cleaners, VCR players, and smoke detectors are also accepted.
Sierra Shred will be on site to handle document destruction. Residents are asked to bring only a reasonable household amount of paper. Business quantities will not be accepted, and materials like credit cards or compact discs should not be included with shred items.
For anyone looking to declutter, protect personal information, and dispose of old electronics responsibly, this event offers a practical solution right in the neighborhood.
