Free E-Waste and Shred Event Set for May 16.

If you’ve been holding onto old electronics or stacks of papers you keep meaning to deal with, Benbrook has a simple solution this month.

On Saturday, May 16, residents can drop off unwanted items at a FREE E-Waste and Shred Event at Dutch Branch Park, running from 8 a.m. to noon or until trucks reach capacity. The collection site will be set up in the back parking lot behind the Benbrook Community Center and YMCA at 1899 Winscott Road.

The event is open only to Benbrook residents, so bring a driver’s license or a utility bill as proof.

Electronics accepted include computers, printers, gaming systems, small appliances, and more. Older CRT-style televisions are not permitted. For those concerned about privacy, hard drives from computers will be destroyed during the recycling process.

Sierra Shred also provides an on-site shredding truck for documents. Residents are asked to bring a reasonable household amount and to remove plastic materials, such as credit cards or discs, before shredding.

For details or questions, contact Cecilia Ventura at 817-249-6008.

It is a straightforward way to clear out what you no longer need while making sure it is handled responsibly, without turning it into a bigger project than it needs to be.
