Benbrook Middle-High School is reminding families of its safety guidelines following recent incidents involving unsupervised middle school students at school events and improper use of electric scooters on campus.
School officials say middle school students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend school events and will no longer be admitted without one. Students also cannot remain on campus after school while waiting for an event to begin. They must leave and return with an adult.
The school is also addressing electric scooters being ridden inside buildings and on athletic grounds. Students who ride scooters to school must keep them parked and locked during the school day and leave campus at dismissal. Scooters are prohibited inside buildings, within the football and track facility gates, and at the baseball and softball complex.
BMHS warns that continued violations could result in individual students losing permission to bring scooters to school, with a possible campus-wide ban if problems persist.
School administrators are asking families to help reinforce these rules to keep students and visitors safe.
