Benbrook School District Split? Local Buzz Grows Louder.

Talk is heating up around Benbrook about a possible break from Fort Worth ISD.

While nothing is official, local parents and community leaders are reportedly discussing the idea of creating a separate school district that would serve Benbrook and nearby neighborhoods, including Ventana, Mont Del, Mira Vista, Montserrat, and others.

At the heart of the rumor is growing frustration with FWISD’s leadership and performance, particularly regarding long-term planning and new school construction. Many say West Fort Worth’s only growing region has outpaced the district’s ability to provide the schools and support families need.

One major sticking point is the call for a new high school. While the area continues to add homes, Benbrook residents worry a future bond proposal could fail due to voter distrust in the current district leadership. Some believe forming a new district might be the only way forward, despite the high cost.

Right now, it’s talk, but it’s talk that keeps coming up. Whether the idea gains real traction or fades out remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: many Benbrook families are rethinking what the future of public education could look like in their backyard.
