Here’s a fun piece of Benbrook history you may not know.
Long before it appeared on TV screens around the world in Landman, Lioness, and Frisco King, Benbrook Lake quietly took on a starring role in the hit historical drama series The Chosen.
During the show’s early production, including much of Season 1, the lake served as a stand-in for the Sea of Galilee, with its shoreline and open water transformed into the setting for several biblical scenes.
As the series has grown, production has expanded to other North Texas locations, and the final season shifted many of its filming sites to areas such as Midlothian. Even so, Benbrook Lake remains part of the show’s story and a unique piece of local filmmaking history.
Benbrook may feel like a small town, but every now and then, it finds itself in the spotlight, seen and known by millions of viewers around the world.
