Benbrook Choir Director Named GRAMMY Semifinalist.

Benbrook Middle-High School choir director Dr. Emily Saenz is one step closer to a GRAMMY.

Saenz has been named one of 25 semifinalists nationwide for the 2027 GRAMMY Music Educator Award, selected from more than 2,000 nominations nationwide.

The award, presented by the Recording Academy and GRAMMY Museum, recognizes music teachers for their classroom work and the impact they have on their students.

It’s been a good fall for the Benbrook choir program. Just recently, 21 Bobcat singers earned spots in the Region Mixed Choir. Now their director is receiving some national recognition of her own.

Saenz will find out in November whether she advances again, when the field is narrowed from 25 semifinalists to 10 finalists. The eventual winner will be recognized during GRAMMY Week in 2027.
