The Benbrook Bobcats soccer team had a rollercoaster weekend during tournament play. They battled tough opponents and showcased moments of promise.
The Bobcats struggled offensively in their opening game against the Cooper Cougars of Abilene, resulting in a 3-0 shutout. However, the team rebounded in style the following day with a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Lake Belton Broncos from Temple, Texas, finding their rhythm on both offense and defense.
On the tournament’s final day, the Bobcats narrowly fell to the Carter-Riverside Eagles, 1-0, in a tightly contested rematch. The Eagles appeared to avenge their loss from February 2024, capitalizing on a limited Bobcats offense.
Benbrook’s record at the weekend was 2-4. The Bobcats will return to the field on January 24th at 7:30 PM for a district showdown against the Wyatt Chaparrals.
