Marching season is almost here, and behind the scenes, the Benbrook Band community has been anything but quiet. While students enjoyed their summer break, a dedicated crew of parents, boosters, staff, and students rolled up their sleeves to get everything in shape for the big return.
Daniel and Twila Roundy tackled trailer maintenance, making sure itโs road-ready. Tommy Walker repaired the drum major stand so new leader Kaden Robles has a solid foundation to lead from. Andrea Sandoval tracked down a welder to fix the tam-tam frame and pulled off a new โStadium Ready Fundraiser.โ Rebecca Weber Clements gave the corporate sponsorship program a full refresh and reached out to local businesses for support. Ms. Brown handled the massive job of cleaning and drying every marching uniform.
Dr. Garcia went above and beyond this summer, rebuilding the percussion closet with help from his father-in-law and percussion students, saving the boosters major costs. Speaking of percussion, those students are already back in action with their own camp, getting a head start before the full band joins for summer band camp next week.
And then thereโs Kaleb Key, a 7th-grade percussionist who spent part of his summer mowing lawns and donated a portion of his earnings back to the band.
Mr. Bryant and Dr. Garcia have spent countless hours bringing this year’s marching show to life, from design to direction. Now, with so many hands and hearts invested, the band is ready to roll.
Donโt miss Band Registration Day tomorrow from 9:00 to 1:00. The energy is high, the team is prepped, and marching season is officially underway.
