In a season often defined by scores and standings, a different kind of achievement has been unfolding at Benbrook Middle-High School.

Over the past few weeks, student artists have quietly built a strong run of recognition, earning awards across multiple competitions and marking a few firsts for the program along the way.

At the Annual FWISD District Art Show, where each school displays its top work, Benbrook Middle-High School students brought home six awards across a range of categories. Among the highlights, Charles Hatcher earned a place in the Top 10 Senior Portfolios, one of the show’s highest honors.

High school artists Anabelle Russell and Kailey Williams placed in Fibers and Sculpture, while middle school students Guinevere De La Cruz, Daniel Lane, and Madeline Lewis added awards in Drawing and Fibers.

The momentum carried into other competitions. At the โ€œButterflies in the Gardenโ€ contest hosted by the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, Anabelle Russell received an honorable mention in Sculpture, and Chloe Craig placed fourth in 2D artwork.

Then came another milestone. Through the Slaughter Family Arts Awards, Anabelle Russell became the first BMHS student to win one of the programโ€™s scholarships, earning top recognition in Photography.

Taken together, the results tell a broader story. Benbrookโ€™s art program is not only growing but also beginning to stand out. And for these students, the work is doing exactly what art is meant to do. It is being seen.
