Residents who rallied to stop the controversial Rowan Ranch development in Benbrook are now seeing new developments unfold—but this time, in the courtroom.
According to recent updates, developer Corey Waldrop, whose rezoning proposal for Rowan Ranch was unanimously denied earlier this year following strong community opposition led by the Saving Mary’s Creek group, has been indicted in Parker County on at least two felony counts. His arraignment is scheduled for October 23, 2025.
Community members who opposed the project have continued monitoring updates tied to Waldrop’s ventures. Records also show that the La Cantera HOA recently placed a lien on one of his nearby properties connected to the original development area.
The Rowan Ranch rezoning proposal, which aimed to reshape parts of north Benbrook near Mary’s Creek, sparked months of passionate debate over environmental impact, density, and neighborhood preservation. Residents credit their unity and organization for halting what they viewed as an ill-fitting project for the area.
While Waldrop’s legal situation now unfolds outside Benbrook, locals remain watchful, viewing the latest news as a reminder of the power of community engagement in shaping responsible development.
