Benbrook residents, mark your calendars—your local leaders are back in session this Thursday, July 17 at 7 p.m. at City Hall (911 Winscott Road). The evening’s agenda includes everything from budget plans to rezoning proposals, with plenty of opportunities for the public to weigh in.
Kicking things off, the council will hear comments from residents and vote to approve the minutes from the July 3 meeting. From there, it’s a full docket:
Big Decisions on the Table:
- Election Plans: Mayor and council members will present a resolution to officially call for a general election on November 4, 2025, and greenlight a joint election effort with Tarrant County.
- Economic Development: The Benbrook Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) will present its proposed budget for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
- Zoning Changes: A public hearing will be held to discuss a rezoning proposal for more than 17 acres near Team Ranch Road and Benbrook Blvd. The land could shift from “Suburban District” to “One-Family District” zoning, potentially paving the way for future development.
Other Notables:
- Oncor Rate Filing: City staff will propose a resolution to suspend a rate filing by Oncor Electric, which could impact what residents pay for electricity.
- School Security Initiative: The council will review an agreement with Fort Worth ISD to provide four police officers for the annual school security effort.
To wrap things up, the meeting will close with open comments from residents, council members, and staff.
