Looking to shake up your weekend routine with something the whole family will enjoy? Benbrook parents have been sharing some tried-and-true favorites, and we’ve rounded up a list to help you plan your next adventure.
For animal lovers, a scenic hour’s drive to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center offers a safari-style experience where kids can feed giraffes and spot zebras from the car. While you’re in Glen Rose, pop by the Dinosaur World Museum or grab a burger at The Green Pickle Grill.
Closer to home, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and the Omni Theater never disappoint. Splash Dayz in White Settlement is also a hit on hot days, just be aware they’re closed on Mondays.
If you’re after hands-on experiences, check out Thunderbird Field’s RC aircraft training on Thursdays, or cool off at Airfield Falls with a light hike and splash zone. The Funky Monkey Ranch in Burleson offers the opportunity to interact with exotic animals, such as lemurs and sloths, by reservation only.
Back in town, free ballet classes at the Benbrook Public Library, such as Dance with Joy, are great for kids ages 2 to 8. Registration fills fast, so don’t wait. Or for a simple night out, the Cattle Drive at the Stockyards, Cidercade Fort Worth, and a movie at Coyote Drive-In are fun, low-cost outings.
