Authorities have identified the woman killed in Wednesday’s rollover accident that shut down eastbound Interstate 20 near FM 2871 on October 28.
According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, 70-year-old Ellen Louise Hamilton died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. Her death was officially ruled an accident.
The crash occurred near Chapin School Road, where a vehicle reportedly struck a highway sign and overturned, prompting a response from Benbrook emergency crews and the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. Eastbound lanes were blocked as first responders worked the scene and authorities addressed damage to a highway sign and guardrail.
The medical examiner recorded Hamilton’s time of death as 12:13 p.m.
Investigators have not confirmed what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway or whether a medical emergency may have contributed to the crash.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident. Investigators have not yet released additional details.
