Former Benbrook Middle-High School Assistant Principal Dr. Dexter Dotson is making an impact in his first year leading Wilson Elementary School.
Raised by his aunt after growing up without his parents, Dotson knows firsthand that life’s circumstances don’t have to determine someone’s future. His journey has taken him from those early challenges to earning a master’s degree, pursuing a doctorate, and now serving as an elementary school principal.
As part of National Principals Month, Dotson’s story highlights his passion for inspiring students, his journey as a Black male educator, and his goal of making Wilson an A-rated campus.
For those who remember his time at Benbrook Middle-High School, Dotson’s influence is still appreciated. And his message to students is one worth remembering: Where you start doesn’t determine where you finish.
