BENBROOK, TX – Every year on March 21, communities worldwide recognize World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) to promote understanding, inclusion, and advocacy for individuals with Down syndrome. The date 3/21 symbolizes the three copies of the 21st chromosome that cause the condition.
Ahead of the official date, KinderFrogs at TCU hosted a March 14 celebration at Starpoint School, ensuring students could participate before spring break. The event featured hands-on activities, including planting blue and yellow tulips for awareness, family-made posters, and a fun-filled day off with outdoor play and treats.
Beyond local events, WDSD inspires people worldwide to show support through activities like wearing mismatched socks and engaging in online advocacy. The 14th World Down Syndrome Day Conference will take place March 21 at the United Nations, offering discussions on improving support systems.
