A simple question sparked a lively discussion among Benbrook drivers: Why does gas often cost more here than in neighboring communities?
Residents reported prices around $3.35 to $3.37 per gallon in Benbrook, compared to about $3.00 at Costco, Sam’s Club, BJ’s, and stations in nearby cities. For many, the difference is enough to fill up elsewhere.
Some blame the busy U.S. 377 corridor, arguing that heavy traffic allows stations to charge a premium. Others say the savings aren’t worth the extra drive, pointing out that time and fuel have value, too.
The conversation also touched on fuel quality. Several residents recommended Top Tier gasoline, which is available at many major brands. More information is available at Top Tier Gasoline.
Others took a different view, choosing to support locally owned stations even when prices are higher.
Whether it’s convenience, fuel quality, saving a few dollars, or supporting local business, one thing is clear: plenty of Benbrook residents are thinking twice before pulling up to the pump.
