As Fort Worth leaders prepare to discuss data center policy on June 2, a local community group is encouraging residents to make their voices heard before the meeting begins.
The 2871 Community Coalition is asking residents to contact Fort Worth City Council members and Mayor Mattie Parker ahead of Tuesday’s work session, which will focus on the city’s approach to future data center development.
According to the coalition, city leaders first discussed the need for a data center ordinance about eight months ago, but no ordinance has been adopted yet. During that time, a reported $1.1 billion data center project has broken ground in west Fort Worth, while another proposed development in southeast Fort Worth continues through the approval process.
Coalition members say they are seeking stronger community protections and are urging city officials to consider a temporary moratorium on new data center approvals while regulations are developed. They are also calling for a public timeline and continued community involvement as policy discussions move forward.
The June 2 work session will not include public comment, making outreach before the meeting especially important for residents who want their concerns considered.
Those interested in learning more or accessing the coalition’s suggested email template can visit the 2871 Community Coalition website.
Residents wishing to contact city leaders directly may email:

- Michael Crain
- Jeanette Martinez
- Elizabeth Beck

With additional data center proposals expected, the discussion underway this week could help shape how Fort Worth balances growth, infrastructure needs, and neighborhood concerns in the years ahead.
