A growing number of Benbrook residents are paying close attention to a proposed data center development just beyond the city limits, and many are stepping up to ensure their voices are heard.
This past week, neighbors gathered at Benbrook United Methodist Church for a community-led meeting organized by local residents to share information, raise questions, and give people space to understand what a 187-acre data center project near Chapin Road and I-20 could mean for nearby neighborhoods in Benbrook, Ventana, and Skyline Ranch.
The turnout reflected a shared concern. While the project sits within Fort Worth, its proximity has made it feel much closer to home for many who live nearby.
Out of that meeting came a clear next step. A new resource site, 2871community.org, now serves as a central place for updates, background information, and ways to stay involved. The site is already gaining traction as more residents learn about the proposed development and its timeline.
That timeline is moving quickly. The Fort Worth City Council is set to vote on the economic development agreement tied to the project on March 31. For many residents, the focus now is staying informed and engaged before that decision is made.
Additional meetings are scheduled to keep the conversation going. A community opposition group will meet on March 23 at 6:00 PM at VFW Post, 1000 Stevens Drive in Benbrook.
Another public meeting is set for March 24 at 6:00 PM at Rolling Hills Elementary School, located at 10351 Orchard Way, Fort Worth, TX 76126, where Fort Worth City Councilman Michael Crain, PMB Capital (the developer of Ventana and Veale Ranch), and Edged Data Centers are expected to present details and answer questions.
Residents are encouraged to review the available information, connect with neighbors, and take part in the process while there is still time. In a moment like this, showing up may be the most important step.
