EDITOR’S UPDATE: The railroad crossing reopened shortly before 3 pm this afternoon following crossing surface replacement work to level and smooth the pavement with the tracks.
Drivers west of Benbrook are seeing delays near the RM 2871 and Aledo Road intersection, where the railroad crossing by the Ventana and Skyline Ranch entrances is shut down.
Barricades and asphalt equipment were on site by midmorning, appearing to be doing utility construction. Drivers were being turned around as early as 9:40 am. Google Maps is already showing the closure, though some navigation apps have not yet updated. Traffic is being routed through 377, which may see heavier volume.
No timeline has been shared for reopening. Motorists should plan alternate routes and expect delays.
