Sam Cooke’s Legacy to Celebrate with Panel and Concert.

The life and legacy of Sam Cooke, often called the King of Soul, will be honored in Fort Worth through a panel discussion and tribute concert this month.

The panel discussion, featuring industry professionals and creatives, takes place at 2 p.m. on Jan. 18 at New Fellowship Church of Fort Worth. It will explore Cooke’s cultural and musical impact, emphasizing music’s power to connect across social and cultural divides.

At 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 20, singer Bradd Marquis will lead a live big band tribute concert, “The Music of Sam Cooke,” at Bass Performance Hall, featuring iconic hits like “A Change is Gonna Come” and “Chain Gang.”

Event organizers hope the celebration of Cooke’s artistry will inspire reflection on the enduring relevance of his work. Both events are part of Performing Arts Fort Worth’s Irwin Steel Popular Entertainment Series.
