The Benbrook Bobcats were back on the floor early, tipping off at 9 am in the Aggieland Invitational with one goal in mind: bounce back and secure a third-place finish.
Standing in their way was Huffman Hargrave, another hungry team coming off a semifinal loss and eager to close strong.
From the opening tip, it was a hard-fought, back-and-forth battle. Both teams traded runs and energy, but Hargrave found another gear down the stretch and pulled away for a 61 to 45 win.
The loss marked Benbrook’s eighth of the season, but it did little to overshadow a solid tournament showing against talented and competitive opponents.
The Bobcats wrapped up the invitational at 3-2 and now sit at 13-8 overall. More importantly, the week offered valuable lessons on both ends of the floor that the team can build on as the season rolls on.
Next up, the Bobcats head home to reset and refocus before opening the new year on the road. Benbrook travels to Mineral Wells on Friday night with tipoff set for 7:30 pm. The grind continues, and the Bobcats will be ready.
