Quick Thinking Helps Crews Save De Cordova Home After Garage Fire.

A two-alarm fire broke out Tuesday morning around 9:30 am at a home in De Cordova, but thanks to fast action and coordinated response, the outcome could have been much worse.

Fire crews from multiple Hood County departments worked together to contain the blaze to the garage area, preventing it from spreading through the rest of the house. A key factor was the homeowner, a retired Waco firefighter, who quickly closed all interior doors after realizing the garage was on fire. That simple move helped limit damage and bought crews valuable time.

While the carport was lost and the home suffered smoke damage, firefighters were able to save the structure and protect nearby homes. Responding agencies included Granbury, Cresson, Pecan, Tolar, and North Hood County Volunteer Fire Departments, along with Texas EMS and the Hood County Sheriff’s Office.

Support from the community followed close behind. Triple G Café in Acton provided discounted meals for firefighters after a long morning on scene, a gesture crews said made a real difference.

Our thoughts remain with the homeowners as they recover, and we appreciate the first responders and local partners who helped turn a dangerous situation into a story of teamwork and quick thinking.
