If you are planning a trip to the DMV soon, you might notice something different.
As of yesterday, Texas driver’s licenses and identification cards now feature a fresh look and enhanced security. The updated cards are made of tamper-resistant polycarbonate, a material designed to be more difficult to counterfeit and easier to verify.
There is no rush to swap out your old card. Previously issued licenses and IDs will remain valid until their expiration date, so you will only see the change when it is time to renew.
